I’m seeking book recommendations for something very specific, so if you have any ideas I’d love to hear them.
I was in a bit of a writing slump until recently, and believe it or not the TikTok writers community helped me get out of it.
I’ve also been in a bit of a reading slump so I thought I’d check in with the same community to help me find my next book.
I’m working on a project that is steering away from middle-grade holiday fiction and more towards becoming a holiday romantic comedy, which at its core is ultimately a romance novel. I don’t want to make any indie author mistakes when it comes to writing this type of genre, so a few months ago I started reading romance novels (yes, this is true).
I read a Danielle Steele, a Nora Roberts, and then of course Fifty Shades. I think what I am looking for would be considered a cozy Christmas romance. But more specifically I’d love to find a book that is:
- Contemporary
- No billionaires
- Set in a small town
- I’d like to be able to get it at the library if possible
- Spicy is ok (does cozy mean it can’t be spicy?)
Anyway, if you have any ideas, let me know because I’d love to hear them! Thanks! And keep writing (or reading).
UPDATE:
I received a number of great suggestions from the community!
- Codi Hall trilogy
- Tessa Bailey – Wreck the Halls
- Meghan Quinn – How My Neighbor Stole Christmas
- The Christmas Tree Farm by Laurie Gilmore
- A Poinsettia Paradise Christmas by Janine Amesta is a perfect small-town Christmas romance.
- Olivia Talmont has a great Christmas cozy mystery that has a romantic theme – The Christmas Fair Affair
- Make the Season Bright
- How My Neighbor Stole Xmas
- Big Nick Energy by Morgan Elizabeth
- Always in December
- A Season for Second Chances
A number of these were books I would absolutely read but were not immediately available at the library for me to check out. I ended up going with Tessa Bailey’s Wreck the Halls. I am only a couple of chapters in, but so far I like it!
