The list of to-do tasks for my book launch is growing shorter and shorter. The big task ahead is the production of the audiobook via Findaway Voices. For whatever reason, they are not moving as swiftly as I would like them to. In the end, it looks like Findaway Voices needs about six to eight weeks to produce the audiobook.
Overall, I’ve liked working with Findaway Voices. They provided a great selection of voice talent. I am extremely happy with my audiobook narrator, Kiera Grace.
My only beef with Findaway Voices is that it seems to take exactly seven days to complete each milestone. When I first signed up, it took seven days to receive my first round of voices. I selected three or four and then had to wait another seven days for the auditions to come in. And then I had seven days to make my final selection. I made my selection, and now it’s been about seven days since I’ve heard anything from them. I guess I’m used to things moving faster and more efficiently in the television world.
Friends and family have been receiving their copies of the book. Since the book launch, some have reached out to me directly or over social media in support. A friend sent me a picture of his son reading the book. His boy needs to read 20 pages a day fo school, so this is great. My sister sent me a picture of one of her girls holding up the book and then later a picture of both of them reading the book in bed. Another friend posted a picture and a video on Instagram.
I have gotten a lot of support and it feels great. I am allowing myself a little honeymoon phase to bask in the good vibes now that the book launch hangover has passed. Some other work is getting neglected, though.
It’s 12:26 PM right now. These morning pages are afternoon pages today. I stayed up late and slept in this morning. I was supposed to have a call with a TV manager/producer from Belgium at 8:00 AM. I got a text at 8:05, and that’s what woke me up. Oops.
I’m giving myself something of a day off. It would be nice to cross off everything on my power list, though, and start October strongly. I can still do it. I can get some writing done today. But the big hurdle will be to work on the Swedish Fish.
I can’t seem to get in a groove or a good flow. I’ve been struggling with it. I think maybe it’s because of the book launch. Maybe when things settle down I’ll get more into it. It’s also not that exciting to me. I haven’t found the voice of the book yet. I’m wondering if I put it in first person from Lola’s point of view, if that will kickstart it. Right now it’s slow and long-winded.
The ebook edition of Naughty Week is available today. I noticed I got my first Kindle purchase. I can’t keep looking at the numbers. I’ll go crazy and nothing else will get done. I can’t ride the wave of momentum if I’m glued to Amazon, Facebook, Instagram, and the rest.
I just got an email from Findaway Voices saying that I need to wait a bit longer regarding the audiobook production. As expected. I figure nothing will be finalized until Friday. So be it.
I need to go exercise or something.
